Growing up, we had hacks to make it through Texas heat waves. It wasn’t glamorous. It looked like covering the windows with blankets or foil, sleeping with damp sheets that pulled the heat away from your body, and eating enough of those cheap popsicles that the sides of your mouth had tiny cuts from the sharp plastic, leaving you with a permanently blue tongue.
I still fuck with those popsicles.
Today is the peak of this heat wave, so be careful, drink water, and when you head to the polls to RANK ZORAN #1, don’t forget to bring an umbrella for shade.

I shared this on my Instagram but I found this graphic from Chi Ossé to be really helpful for all of the other candidates:
This is missing the judges that may be up for election in your district so remember to research them.
Good luck today, make me proud!

Pitchfork’s Benson Boone Review
*article*
There are certainly more important things happening in the world than shitting on Benson Boone’s new album, but this what we’re doing. I have seen snippets of this review circulating but after reading the whole thing, I want to kiss the critic on the mouth.
“This makes the classic showman—much less the utterly jejune single-backflipping showman—rather conventional. And still, Boone has boinged himself into the global consciousness through his enormous 2024 hit “Beautiful Things.” I’m not one to argue in bad faith, so let me just say that Boone is not just regular talented but rather talented. More talented than me, that’s for sure. I can’t backflip; I can’t sing like he can; I’ve never dropped out of two separate institutions—Brigham Young University and American Idol—to pursue my childhood dream of being a pop star. To admire Boone is like drunkenly admiring an Olympian, in that you’re like, I could probably do this, but you almost certainly cannot.”
“So here we are at this stalemate where I have to break one of the chief rules of criticism: faulting an artist for not doing something they didn’t attempt—in this case, faulting Boone for not writing good songs.”
“Instead of a musical or narrative point of view, Boone relies on speaking his truth, a songwriting axiom that doesn’t take into account whether someone’s truth is fundamentally boring…”
“It’s a step removed from the genuine article: music for people who like how music sounds, but not for people who like music.”

My recent drug store haul
*the necessities*
I walked into a CVS and they didn’t even know what hit them. Below, in the aesthetically pleasing and effortlessly curated gallery, are all of the things I bought:
Lip liner - I’m kicking myself that I didn’t buy this shade sooner, it’s wild how much my lips pop with gloss.
Light pink nail polish - This is a buildable shade but I love that it’s a fun neutral.
Travel pack of Tums - You gotta have them on you during a night out! I live and die by this.
Beige eyeliner - I opted for this over white eyeliner because I wanted something more subtle and I’m pleased with my pivot.

What is it? Cream Glide Lip Liner ($2), Minimalistic Nail Polish ($10), Mini Tums ($2.50), Beige Eyeliner ($7)
